Communication Apprehension (CA) These are the anxious feelings and thoughts that come from the fright over public speaking. I always get tense up on any idea of speaking out publicly even around a large group of people such as classmates. State-Anxiety The feeling of unease influenced by external factors rather than internal factors such as fear of scrutiny. I avoid talking in public to the potential that so many people may notice and laugh when I make a mistake. Trait Anxiety The type of unease/anxiety derived from internal factors within the person, such as the personality. I know a friend who is even shyer and based on her personality may find it hard to talk even in a small group exceeding five people.
